FROM BIOMED TO INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN

A Journey of Passion and Purpose

After over two decades in dialysis, including seven years in management, I thought I had found my career path. But as I worked on training programs for Biomedical Technicians, I discovered my true passion—creating impactful learning experiences.This realization grew while developing the Advanced Water Training program for Biomedical Technicians. I knew I needed to pursue education to fully transition into Instructional Design. I took courses through Udemy, Tim Slade’s eLearning Academy, and IDOL Courses Academy, where I honed my skills in tools like Articulate Storyline, Rise, Vyond, and Camtasia. I even contracted with IBM to build eLearning for VMWare certification. I also volunteered for the non-profit Beloved: Not Forgotten, designing onboarding modules and promotional materials about how they provide for survivors of human trafficking.Now, as a Sr. Instructional Designer and LMS Administrator at FreseniusRx Pharmacy, I manage our LMS and create eLearning experiences that drive performance. With expertise in tools such as Articulate and Adobe Captivate, I excel at partnering with subject matter experts to rapidly develop training using the Backward Design model. I am also well-versed in instructional design frameworks, including Merrill’s First Principles, ADDIE, and SAM, ensuring effective and engaging learning solutions.In addition, I have recently earned the Certified Professional in Talent and Performance certification from IDOL Academy. This certification reflects my expertise in delivering end-to-end workplace learning solutions. I specialize in performance analysis, goal identification, and bridging performance gaps. I collaborate with businesses to conduct needs assessments, analyze data, communicate effectively, solve problems, facilitate processes, and provide coaching to drive organizational success through impactful learning.Before this, I proudly served in the US Navy, where I developed the precision and dedication I bring to every project.Let’s collaborate to design innovative learning experiences that align with your business goals and empower your team for success!

MY ACHIEVEMENTS

Certified Professional in Training and Performance

IDOL Academy, 2024

When I was offered the opportunity to pursue the Certified Professional in Talent and Performance certification as an IDOL Academy alum, I knew it would be a challenging journey—but I was ready. This project pushed me to my limits, with coaches holding every asset to an incredibly high standard. My task? To completely revamp an existing eLearning course on building customer relationships, transforming it into an engaging, multi-faceted learning experience.

The final deliverables were comprehensive and impactful. I developed Guiding the Customer Care Compass: Navigating Upset Customers, a self-paced eLearning course that featured engaging Vyond videos to bring real-life customer scenarios to life. In addition to the core eLearning module, I designed five custom infographics as resources to reinforce key concepts. To further enhance learning, I built an Instructor-Led Training (ILT) course that followed the eLearning, providing opportunities for learners to practice their skills through role-playing and group discussions.

Throughout the project, I refined my skills in instructional design, using theories like ADDIE, Backward Design, and Merrill’s First Principles. I integrated Retrieval Practice, Self-Assessments, and Cognitive Load Theory to ensure the learning experience was not only effective but tailored to how people learn best. Visual design played a major role as well, and I applied the C.R.A.P. method to create a clean, impactful look for every asset.

The result was a dynamic, end-to-end learning solution that bridges performance gaps, delivers measurable results, and leaves a lasting impact on both the learners and the organization.
